Getting Ready

Things can and may go wrong on your wedding day. I had a bridesmaid who was unable to attend because she was ill. Talk about something you don't want to hear on the morning of your wedding. Apart from that, I had chipped nail and toe nail polish and I was running late. I got anxious. I hate being late. My advice to future brides is do not fret, cause once you are walking down that aisle, none of those things matter. In the end everything will work out even better than imagined.

It's Nice Being The Bride

This weekend I went and saw my dress again! It was my first fitting and luckily it will be my last. The only things that needed to be altered were the length (just a bit) and the bustle. Other than that it is ready to go!

Since I was in the valley with my MOH,I took advantage and did some shopping for the honeymoon at the Topanga Mall. If you are ever in the area, it is one of the best malls to go. It has every single store you can think of. While at the Michael Kors store I found the beauties pictured below. They are so comfortable because the pair I bought has black mesh straps and they will look awesome in NYC! Unfortunately there was only one pair of 7.5 and MOH spotted them first! But MOH said since I was the bride I could have them. I like being the bride-to-be! It definitely comes with some advantages. Can I postpone the wedding til 2010? =)

*Update: MOH found another pair of 7.5's at Nordstrom's and bought them today!

I Bought A Dress!

I'm so happy to announce that this bride finally has a wedding dress! After three shopping trips many months ago (David's Bridal, a local store and Santa Barbara Bridal before it closed) and no dress I was beginning to get discouraged. Either the dresses were out of my price range, not flattering on me or I did not love them. But today was my lucky day! So here is the story: I originally wanted a specific Paloma Blanca dress (pictured below) so I made an appointment at the only store near me (one hour away) that had the dress: Karoza Designs in Glendale. I had read bad reviews online so I was hesitant to shop there, but it was the only one that had the style I wanted so I went. I show up and look around and I am just amazed by how many beautiful dresses they have! I was in heaven. I immediately noticed beautiful Maggie Sottero gowns. Then I found the dress I came to try on. The consultant asked me if I wanted to try on any other dresses and I said sure. I told her I wanted it to have a pick-up skirt and she led me back to the Maggie Sottero section. I loved so many styles but picked only 2 others to try on. To be more specific, they second two are actually Sottero & Midgley gowns The consultant told me to try on the other 2 first and we would finish with my favorite. I tried on the first dress and fell in love. I tried on the second dress and liked it but didn't get the "this is the one" vibe. I tried on the one I went for and although it was beautiful I could not get over the first dress. The first dress was the "one." It was a dress that I never thought I would get for my wedding but I did. Funny how that works. The fit was extremely flattering because of the corset top and the material makes you feel like royalty. It was elegant and classy. My mom said I had a glow on my face when I wore it and I noticed that I could not stop smiling in it, so I bought it. Ah, I feel like a burden has been lifted off my shoulders. And despite all that I read online, I had a wonderful experience at Karoza designs. Their selection was unlike any other and the staff was friendly and quick.

I feel like a real bride now! It is all coming together! Now I can focus on all the other details of the wedding that I need to take care of. June's goal: Invitations! Any suggestions?

Paloma Blanca

I love Paloma Blanca wedding dresses!!! They are all so beautiful! They are classic, simple and elegant. I especially love the mix of lace and silk and mantilla veils. I totally want one!!! I think they fit my style and the wedding day look I am going for, plus some of their dresses are in my budget!!!
